Dam Inspection, Safety & Compliance

Statutory inspections, instrumentation, risk assessment and rehabilitation — helping dam owners meet the Dam Safety Act, 2021 with confidence.

The Mandate

Safety is now a statutory obligation.

India operates 6,628 specified dams — the world's third-largest portfolio after the US and China — and roughly 75% are more than 25 years old, many beyond their original design life. The Dam Safety Act, 2021 converted dam safety from good practice into statutory obligation: owners must maintain dedicated dam safety units, conduct pre- and post-monsoon inspections, install instrumentation, and complete Comprehensive Dam Safety Evaluations, risk assessments and Emergency Action Plans against hard deadlines, under the oversight of the NDSA and State Dam Safety Organisations.

The Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) Phases II & III back this regime with ₹10,211 crore for rehabilitating 736 dams across 19 states. Rudhra serves this ecosystem end to end — inspection, instrumentation, analysis, documentation and physical rehabilitation — and as climate change amplifies extreme-rainfall and GLOF risk, we help owners move from periodic inspection to continuous, data-driven surveillance on platforms aligned with DHARMA.
